Reminder: Gluten free menu items reported by restaurants should only be considered as a starting off place for choosing items. You still must take the responsibility of being vigilant and always reconfirming the GF status of a menu item each and every time. It is also important to discuss any possible cross-contamination issues of concern.

As of 4/11, Carl's Jr. has 3 burgers listed on their website that are labeled "Gluten Sensitive" - the "Low Carb Six Dollar Burger", the "Low Carb Famous Star with Cheese", and the "Low Carb Guacamole Six Dollar Burger". Additionally, they provide a PDF Allergen Chart which denotes which menu items contain wheat (Click on "Allergen").

"Seems like they shouldn't be considred safe for any celiac".

The following is Carl Jr.'s response to a long letter from Andrew explaining how, even after working with the staff to try to prevent cross-contamination while at the restaurant, he still found a piece of fried zucchini in his fries. In his letter he also outlined steps that they could take to help prevent this happening in the future.

"We do not have a gluten-free cooking environment in our kitchen.  All of our products are prepared in the same kitchen area.  Any gluten-free products are listed in our ingredient information." Jacob Irwin, Carl’s Jr. Guest Relations
