"I wanted to add some comments to the Casa De Pico review. I have Celiac Disease and was diagnosed in February. I have used your website several times for restaurant suggestions and the comments have been right on! I have to say though the Casa De Pico one isn’t. The food maybe GF, but I have a feeling I was cross contaminated some how or the food was just simply not GF. My signs and symptoms of contamination started two hours after we ate there. All I had that day to eat was food from home which I have on a regular basis. So I am pretty confident it was Casa De Pico. I called and spoke with the manager before dining there. I also spoke with our waiter before ordering. They reassured me my food would be cooking in its own pan and that they are very careful. With that said, I think a disclaimer should be put out about them."

"Last Thursday night (4/21) my husband and I had dinner at Casa de Pico Mexican restaurant in La Mesa. We were very pleased when they presented us with a brand new separate gluten-free menu when we asked. It was loaded with wonderful dishes to choose from for celiacs! Our waitress, Sonya, said the menu has only been out a couple of weeks and they were still tweaking it a little. I asked for a white sauce for my grilled cod fish tacos that was not on the GF menu (we had eaten there many times before when I could eat gluten), and she went back in the kitchen and checked the ingredients for us. It was okay, so I had the white sauce I so love for my fish tacos! Sonya was very attentive and wanted to learn all about celiac disease so she could serve her customers better. She was busy, so I filled her in as best I could. Lovely restaurant; lovely staff who care about their customers. My husband and I highly recommend!"
